Who I am?

My name is Madeline Witthuhn (she/her) and I am an Associate Marriage and Family therapist.  I graduated from Hope International University with my M.S in Counseling.  I have had experience working with a variety of clients, including children, adolescents, adults, and couples. I have worked in different settings such as in schools, through telehealth, and at a counseling center for a church. I have also worked with clients who identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community. I have experience facilitating a support group for children and adolescents who struggle with body-focused repetitive behavior disorders, such as trichotillomania and dermotillomania.  My goals as a therapist are to support my clients and to work together to identify what will work best for them as we explore their goals and needs in therapy.

My interest are: music, playing guitar and ukulele, and singing and writing songs.  I also love animals and have two cats at home.  In my free time, I like to watch Netflix TV shows and movies. These activities are how I utilize self-care, which is something I also encourage my clients to do.

Therapeutic Approach

My therapeutic approach is always client centered. I like to utilize play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and solution focused therapy. If my clients request or are open to spirituality and Christian therapeutic models, such as working prayer, scripture, or spiritualty into the counseling experience, I am happy to bring that into the therapy room.  My therapeutic approach is to establish a supportive relationship with my clients and to meet them wherever their needs are.
