Clinical Director

My name is Amy (Perez) Cornwall, I am bilingual in English and Spanish. I received my B.A. in Psychology from Azusa Pacific University and M.S. in Counseling from the California State University, Fullerton with an emphasis in the Latinx population and therapy in Spanish. Throughout my career, I have worked at a St. Jude’s Neighborhood Health Clinic) alongside doctors and nurses to provide the best care for our patients. I also worked at a WTLC Domestic Violence Shelter where I helped clients through individual and group therapy, process their current and past trauma. In 2017, I completed my training in EMDR (Eyemovement Desensitization & Reprocessing) and began practicing this therapeutic approach. I graduated in January 2018 with a Master of Science degree in Counseling.

I have also worked at several community mental health clinics (Wellnest, Children’s Institute) where I specialized in children, teenagers, and adults with trauma using interventions such as play therapy and trauma-focused therapy. Half of my caseload was Spanish speaking clients. In September 2019, I decided to venture out into private practice and begin helping my own community in the South Bay with the therapeutic healing process. I joined a group practice and have used my expertise to help my clients (children, teens, adults, couples, and families) with their goals, life transitions, and healing process. I also worked with a non-profit called New Star Family Justice Center where I help clients in crisis situations such as domestic violence/intimate partner, violence, suicidal clients, and DCFS involvement. I provide individual, 10-week DV Class for DCFS certificate/For victim court-ordered therapy, and DV/IPV Process Group. I was the Clinical Program Manager where I oversee administrative duties, assign clients to individual and group therapy, oversee groups, and assist clinical staff with any clinical duties and questions.

I am an EMDR Certified Therapist (EMDRIA). and working on Registered Play Therapist (2024). I am an EMDR consultant-in-training under Annie Monaco, LCSW, RPT-S. Playful EMDR website
