Matthew Jensen
Spiritual Coach
“My mission is to guide individuals in rediscovering their spiritual identity, embodying it with purpose, and cultivating lasting spiritual resilience for a grounded and meaningful life.”
Thanks for considering our team to assist you in your pursuit of hope and healing! My name is Matthew Jensen and I’m the Spiritual Coach here at Blue Chair. To get to know who I am I’d love to share a little bit about my professional history, then I’ll share a little bit about what "Spiritual Coach" means and how I can benefit your personal journey.
What is a Spiritual Coach?
I’m not here to preach or convert you to anything. I need to say that upfront. I’m not clergy nor do I have a spiritual or political agenda when you meet with me. At Blue Chair our passion is to come alongside you and provide support for the holistic person you uniquely are: emotionally, relationally, physically, and spiritually.
Professional Background
Early Career
My first job out of high school was a member of the LA County Sheriff’s Ombudsman. As part of a team of 10 I assisted with mediating citizen complaints against the Sheriff’s Department under the Board of Supervisors for all of Los Angeles County.
The Salvation Army
I oversaw city and county operations for cities like Compton, Santa Maria, Ventura, and Santa Monica. I led social workers and staff, attended city meetings, ran churches, and networked with political leaders to implement change for the most vulnerable.
Care Pastor
For 10 years I served as a "Care Pastor" at a local megachurch where I blended my social services, psychological, and spiritual expertise to help anyone in the South Bay and beyond with any need they had in times of crisis.
"I’ve been coming alongside people in their worst times and providing practical hope and guidance since 2003. At this point if you tell me something you’re going through, I can almost guarantee I’ve heard it before and will be a safe and non-judgmental place for you to express your truest self."
How Spiritual Coaching Benefits You
What I offer is a safe space to explore your spiritual side as a compliment to your journey with one of our amazing therapists. My greatest aim is to listen, see you for who you are on your terms, and help guide you into your truest spiritual self as a loving and accepting coach along your path.
I’ll ask questions, give relevant homework that will help you explore further, and will be a confidential guide to help you become who you were always meant to be. My services are totally optional and one tool in your tool box that we offer for your own personal holistic healing.
Education & Approach
I have a master’s degree in "theological studies" which focused on both the diversity of beliefs we all have, as well as healing from various kinds of psychological traumas. And, I’m currently a doctoral student having completed all of my coursework and now working on my dissertation that will focus on paving a new way forward to heal from psychological trauma while blending spiritual components into the healing process.
Inclusive Approach
I’ve worked with Muslim, Buddhist, Christian, Jewish, Agnostic, and New Age populations extensively and I treat every person in front of me equally. I personally identify with the monastic Benedictine tradition of the Catholic Church whose highest aim is to accept everyone as they would Christ Himself.
With me, you’re safe, you’re heard, and you can be guided into a deeper awareness and growth of the spiritual side that we all have within us - and which, is unique to your own personal journey.
