Supervised By: Amy Cornwall, LMFT #130174

Who am I?

My name is Crystal Hernandez (she/her). I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. I graduated with my B.A. in Psychology from California State University Dominguez Hills. I earned my M.A. in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University. As an Associate Marriage & Family Therapist I have worked in various settings such as at a school based program for TK-8th grade, community mental health, and at a private practice. Through my experience as a therapist, I have worked along side with children, adolescents, adults, and couples. As a therapist, it’s important for me to create a safe space for my clients to help process their experiences and emotions where we collaborate together to help meet their goals. I believe in meeting where my clients are at in their therapeutic journey and creating the safe space to allow them to be their authentic self.

Therapeutic Approach:

My therapeutic approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and mindfulness. I will be in training in play therapy to be able to incorporate play and art interventions in which I believe are other great ways to help express one’s emotions and experiences. I believe in having a collaborative therapeutic approach and the therapeutic alliance is of most importance to me.
