How Blue Chair Family Therapy, APC Began…
Blue Chair Family Therapy, APC (BCFT) is a Southern California-based, woman and minority owned company committed to providing the best mental health care to our South Bay and California clients. Blue Chair Family Therapy is a new mental health start-up that strives to provide care to children, teens, adults, couples, and families needing to bring everlasting healing to their lives. Blue Chair Family Therapy team provides a “therapeutic concierge” approach, by serving the whole family and allowing for healing to occur within the family system. We provide individual counseling, family therapy, psychoeducation groups, process groups, and couples therapy.
Blue Chair Family Therapy began in February 2022 after Amy “Perez” Cornwall decided to venture off from being apart of a group practice to focus on providing mental health services to Redondo Beach and surrounding areas. BCFT strives to provide quality services by utilizing evidence-based practices and assisting to being everlasting healing to clients. BCFT strives to help clients to make necessary changes in their lives to increase their mental health. BCFT strives to help children and teens that are going through difficult times (i.e. bulling, anxiety, depression, parents divorcing, emotion dysregulation). BCFT strives to help people who suffer from a recent traumatic/past traumatic event and bring positive and everlasting change.
We at BCFT offer Trauma-Informed Therapy which helps…
Create a complete picture of what a client is going through and removing the idea that something must be wrong
Aids in working on what happened and how to heal from the past and continue with the present and knowing that the future holds so much more than originally expected
Learning to avoid re-traumatization and working through any triggers
Trauma can sometimes make it difficult for individuals to feel safe and comfortable around medical professionals, so this type of therapy aids is creating a different relationship with providers which then leads to healthier living
